Best Drive to Lodge - Pasha Lake Cabins Question of The Day

Is there a chip card for the Pasha Lake / Lake Nipigon Region? No, not really. Some companies have attempted to copy some chart information from surveys done in the 60’s, but they are fairly inaccurate and hard to come by. We have custom lake maps available for you at the lodge, however they do not have lake contours. Before we let you take off for a day of fishing, we make sure you have travel maps as well as lake maps.  Our custom made lake maps key in on fishing hotspots which make finding and catching a lot of…

Best Drive to Lodge - Pasha Lake Cabins Question of the Day

When staying at Pasha Lake Cabins, can I hire a fishing guide? At of this time writing we have a highly talented, extremely friendly full time Fishing Guide. His name is Ian, and you will absolutely love him. We run a daily charter to Lake Nipigon for all species – including spring brook trout, and gigantic northern pike and once the walleye migrations kick off – we focus on staggering numbers of walleye, trophy perch and heavily feeding northern pike. Typically the Lake Nipigon walleye runs start mid to late June and will run until the end of October.  Keep…

2020 St. Paul Ice Show and Picture Challenge

I have to admit – the wrapping up of the 2019 open water season has me a bit anxious.  While I am ready for a mini sabbatical given the fact we’re coming off one of the busiest season in our history, I’m also excited to kick off the hard water season. A week ago today, I returned from Elk Hunting with none other than James Holst – the creator and host of the wildly famous fishing television show In-Depth Outdoors.  We spent a week out in Montana chasing elusive elk and had a pretty good time doing it. The required…

2019 - Pasha Lake Cabins Current Events: June/July

“They didn’t come back last night?” a question that rings in my ears as I sit here typing this current events update.   Before I get to that little gem of a story, allow me to bring everyone up to speed on the skinny here at Pasha Lake Cabins. June – June started off with a complete contradiction in circumstances affecting Pasha Lake Cabins.  The weather was unusually cool in the morning, with temps regularly dropping into the 30’s at night.  The fishing, on the other hand, was bang-on smok’in hot, as usual.   The walleye bite coming on in full…

2019 Current Events

As the ice on Pasha Lake battled to stay intact, Ian and I were busy working on camp, updating cabins and making repairs from the damage caused by the harsh winter. On the top of our to do list was the conversion of cabin 9 from a standard to a deluxe. Each day while working, we’d eventually pause long enough to glance up, assesses the constantly changing conditions and update our predictions when the soft water would finally win the battle against the hard water. My annual notes told me ice out would be May 12ish, Ian’s experience told him…

Pasha Lake Cabins & Lake Nipigon May 2018 Recap

Good Day Pasha Go’ers!  My Neanderthal brain is telling me it’s time to officially wrap up the 2018 open water season.  The short version – the fishing this year was epic, truly special.  In a decade and a half of doing this, we’ve never experienced the quality of fishing we had in 2018.  Both Lake Nipigon, and the inland lakes gave our guests some impressive bragging rights.  My hope in the coming blog posts is to capture how truly special it was.  (Get ready for the long version.)       May 2018 Tensions ran high in May, courtesy of…
