Tent Camping: Tent camping is available at the tip of the peninsula, which is isolated from the rest of the camp. Campers have a fire pit and an outhouse…

May Walleye

May 2014 – State of the Ice Address In the underworld below the snow covered ice, there is little light penetration. Anybody who’s crazy enough to dive there would notice things are extremely dark. Yet, despite this unusually brutal winter that has resulted in record breaking cold and snow accumulation, something major is getting ready to happen. That, of course, is the historic walleye migration that dates back millions, if not billions of years. What is the destination for these extraordinary game fish? The answer is simple. They are making an exodus to the same spawning grounds that have served…

Ontario Splake Fishing

Remembering the day on Splake Lake Gary Rakestraw trip July-2008 Dear Chad & Michelle, Thanks for another fantastic week at Pasha Lake. We’ve had a lot of great days of Walleye fishing both at home as well as in Canada but never as fast and furious as our day on Jackson Lake or as many big fish as the ones we caught on Onaman. We’ll also be remembering the day on Splake Lake for a long time. Nothing can rip line from your reel like a Splake. The fishing seems to be getting better every year. See you next year,…

Best Fishing Lakes in Canada

Passion for Pasha by Chris Granrud How is that for a backdrop for your fishing adventure!! When a guy spends nearly each and every day either on the water, or in the woods it clearly takes a very special place to motivate him enough to pack his bags during the month of September. I’d been talking with Chad online from Pasha Lake for over a year through the medium of In Depth Outdoors. It was not only the fishing opportunities, but a Canadian bear hunt that had both my dad and I losing countless hours of sleep in our anticipation…

How to Clean Pike & Remove Y-Bones

How to Fillet Pike & Remove Y-Bones Gordy Johnson of Esoxhunter.com Step 1) Cut down to the backbone (not through it) just below the gill, then slide the knife along the backbone to the tail leaving the fillet attached at the tail. Cut out the lower rib bones by letting the knife slide under the bones to the bottom of the fillet Step 2) To remove Y-bones find the lateral line that runs through the center of the filet (it sort of bisects the upper and lower portion). Once found, run the tip of a very sharp knife down the…
